Professional Cyclist

As a professional cyclist I thought I knew what to eat for a healthy lifestyle, but to reach my potential, eating healthy isn't enough. I need to eat to perform.

The only regret of my meeting with Dr. Dennis Bobilya is that it wasn't a decade ago. Having read countless books, articles, fliers, and ads, I'd formed a mosaic of knowledge about food. But when Dennis reviewed my diet, I found that my ideas were skewed. We discussed my goals as a cyclist, and he developed a customized eating plan of what, when, and how to eat and drink for maximum performance.

As an open minded athlete willing to try out his recommended changes, I've improved my energy level on the bike, and my ability to recover between workouts, something I really didn't believe possible. If everyone knew the value of consulting a sports nutritionist like Dennis, it would raise the bar for cycling. His depth of knowledge and ability to explain make it easy to try simple changes in diet. I don't spend any more money on food--probably less, cutting out supplements--and I don't have to make any special preparations.

Cycling is a demanding sport, and so often we will spare no expense on the best equipment. But meeting a nutritionist is likely an even more valuable investment, whether you're a casual weekend warrior or a professional athlete. While we race our fancy time trial bikes or top-dollar aero wheels at a few peak events, proper nutrition will improve energy levels and recovery every day and every workout. It sure did that for me.

Now it frustrates me watching other cyclists make the mistakes I made, selling themselves short. Most athletes would deny that a nutritionist could help, thinking, 'I've made it this far without a nutritionist, why would I need one now?' You need one now because an hour meeting with Dennis would absolutely be an advantage in reaching your potential.

Thanks for your help,

High School Football Player

My son was an average football player for 7 years. We were just happy he got playing time. He took a weight training class for three years in high school, but he didn't get much stronger and he was frustrated.

On the first day of summer before his senior year, football weight training started. I think he wanted to have a great senior season like his older brother. He wanted me to go with him to the nutrition store to buy the powders and pills his friends had started using. I wanted to make sure they were good for his body, so I did some research. I found Seacoast Sports nutrition and Dr. Bobilya. He set up a much simpler food and nutrition plan. It was simple and easy, we communicated mostly by internet.

My son was so excited with the immediate results he began cooking most of the meals himself. He got rid of soda pop and candy for nutrition. The football weight training and running program were the same as they had been for the past two summers, but Dr. Bobilya’s food program magnified the results. After eight weeks he had gained 21 pounds, grew an inch, and was a hell of a lot stronger. And it was important to me as a parent that I knew it was all good safe foods.

The coaches were impressed and allowed him to move to Defensive End. He played every minute his senior season and averaged 5-6 solo tackles per game. He also recovered two fumbles this year. And the highlight was setting the team record with 14 tackles during the Homecoming game. He also received the All Conference Award and has not stopped smiling.

Thank you, Dr. Bobilya!

A Proud Dad
